IAT Sports Day 2018

By

Held at Chulalongkorn University Sports Center Stadium, the Indian-Thai Sports Day came back for its fourth run with classic games and healthy competition.

Organised by the IAT, formerly known as the Indian Association of Thailand, the event featured 1,100 participants and nearly 2,000 spectators; the highest number of attendees to date. This non-pro t event, created mainly to bring together the Thai-Indian youth and form a union between all communities, was an opportunity to meet new people, while enjoying some good old activities.

With five different-coloured teams (including red, yellow, green, blue and orange), the day began with a three kilometre marathon for men and 1.6 kilometre marathon for women. Among the variety of sport games that included table tennis, volleyball and chair ball, the main highlight was the outdoor soccer match for men and the indoor basketball competition for women. The event also had sponsors providing free food and drinks throughout the day, while entertaining performances by Aruni Bagga, the former contestant of the Voice of India, as well as an Indian troupe from Chulalongkorn University’s Indian Studies Center, delighted everyone.

The day was brought to an electrifying end when the orange team repeated history and once again won the tournament for their second year in a row.
